The first fall hike/ruck of the season was held at the Maurice River Bluffs. This is Woods n Water’s favorite hike/ruck location. The NJ Nature Conservancy does amazing with creating and maintaining trails as well as both rest areas and sections providing opportunities for mental health modalities.

Much different than the Woods n Water Sunday Rucks, the hike/rucks are more laid back. The pace and challenge is predicated on those that attend so that all are included. When there is a group with many different capabilities, Woods n Water will split the group into two. One for the ruckers and one for the hikers.

For this event, we kept it to one group completing 5 miles (depending on which app you go by-haha) and a very leisure pace with a few stops to discuss the history of the Maurice River Bluffs, the work that has been done to the trails, as well as the future plans the NJ Nature Conservancy has for this location. *side note: Woods n Water and the Nature Conservancy team up on events and projects such as TNC offering guides and informational presentations, Woods n water providing volunteers for projects such as planting trees, shrubs, etc., and together creating an informational video on the health benefits of hiking and nature in general, especially for our Nation’s Heroes.

A few members of Team Red, White & Blue joined us adding to a great day of perfect hiking weather, positive vibes and laughter. Thank you Team RWB for joining us.
