This camp/ruck retreat was conceived when acting VFW NJ State Commander Jon Hinker was in New Hampshire for some VFW business. In conversation with New Hampshire VFW members, Commander Hinker mentioned the Woods n Water rucks, as well as the other activities that WnW holds. NH VFW member Tim Grant suggested coordinating a ruck event together in New Hampshire. Commander Hinker called WnW and the plans started to unfold.
So much goes into an event, especially when it involves multiple days. WnW does everything possible to make each event so that there is no cost to our Nation’s Heroes and this was no exception. Tents, sleeping bags and air mattresses were offered to all, meals, transportation and campsites were all included. Great weather, a good campsite, a mountain with beautiful scenery, an outstanding VFW Post 1670 providing excellent hospitality & food, two good campfires and a tight group of our Nation’s Finest Heroes made for a very successful trip.
New relationships were formed, the camaraderie was abundant and a vow to make this an annual trip was made. Thank you to all that made the trip and made every minute a positive moment ……… even in the rain the first night……”If it ain’t raining, we ain’t training” haha
