We always look forward to this annual event!

We met members of the Pioneer Sportsmens Club over 3 years ago and they invited us to be part of their annual skeet shooting event. We had a great time and have been attending each year since. What a great opportunity for our Nation’s Heroes to be able to get out in to the outdoors, be amongst friendly people that are willing to share their firearms knowledge, enjoy a wide variety of good tasting food and get to try out their aim on some skeet shooting.

After a few miles of dirt road traveling, driving through mud puddles and several dips (whoop-de-do’s), we arrive to the Pioneer Sportsmens clubhouse that is loaded with trucks, camo, the aroma of gunpowder and greetings from everyone there. Once we say hello to those that are running the event, we get our Heroes attending set up. Everything needed for a day of skeet shooting is provided. From hearing protection to the firearms, it’s all there and available, with skilled people to assist with loading, handling and shooting advice.

As with each year, we had some that have been to this event and some that were new to it. One female Hero did not hit any clays last year, but hit a few this year!!! Then we had one new face to the event that turned out to be like a “pool shark”. He kept talking about it being so long since he shot a firearm and how he will do badly. Then he picks out a firearm, gets his hearing protection in, grabs his 3 shells, yells “pull” and hits the very first one!!! He ended up hitting almost all of the clays that were thrown out for him.

Of course, we all left full, happy and looking forward to next year.

A huge thank you to Pioneer Sportsmens Club for their invite, hospitality, generosity and caring & supporting our Nation’s Heroes.
