In between our monthly hike/ruck events, Hike Coordinator Dean Mitzel and Co-Founder George Daly do a weekly weighted ruck at different locations throughout South Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. After a couple of months into it, they decided to open it to those that are able to ruck a fast pace.
Nature provides therapeutic benefits in itself. Adding in an activity like weighted rucking is a great way to a better overall health. Stepping away from life’s pressures, distractions and struggles, building a steady positive & healthy aspect to your life and embracing the camaraderie that comes with it offers an opportunity to have a positive impact on yourself.
For some starting out, you may incur aches and pains. But, we promise you that if you participate regularly, it will get better. If you cannot start with a weighted ruck, that’s ok. You can work your way up to that. The goal is to have everyone with at least 22lbs to honor the 22 Veterans a day that die by suicide. We lose more of our military and first responders to suicide than we do from their time in service! Everyone has an opportunity today to be better than they were yesterday. START TODAY!!! #bettertoday
For those that wish to follow the weekly weighted rucks, send us a message with your contact information to send you a link to download the Team Reach app onto your phone and join the Woods n Water WnW Ruck group.
